Never mind that most of the pieces on this disc were not written specifically for harp; these transcriptions are lovely in any case. It's the kind of music you don't have to bring much to; ethereal tunes that just waft along on the warm summer breeze and sort of float over you, bathing you in their warm, soft, golden glow.
The 11 works in the collection represent the early twentieth century in French composition, meaning the Impressionists: Ravel, Satie, Debussy, Ibert, and Pierne. Played on harp, with string, clarinet, and flute accompaniment, they are more airy than usual, Ms. Bodtker's playing imparting a further sweetening effect to the music.
