JVC has recently released a number of classic RCA recordings as XRCD remasters. The good news is that they have picked some excellent performances and done a good job in the remastering; the bad news is that some of the programs are quite short (e.g., the Reiner Beethoven 5th and 7th are each a separate CD) and the XRCD discs are expensive. This disc, however, is reasonably well filled, and the musical program is quite interesting. The opening minutes of Iberia have a snap and impact to them that are quite breathtaking. ...
