The revenue chain gets stretched. (Communique).(Brief Article)
According to a recent study by the Credit Research Foundation, Columbia, MD, median Days Sales Outstanding across all industries at the end of 2001 jumped to a level of 45.6 days versus 42.9 days a year ago. This is the second highest level in the 40 years that CRF has been compiling this data. Topped only by the recession of 1982, when it reached 46.6 days, this standard metric of revenue chain performance illustrates a problem many businesses are experiencing.
The DSO measure is reflective of shifts in revenues as well as delinquent receivables. CRF's data indicates this recent surge is related to a combination of a rapid decline in revenues as well as a modest increase in delinquency. According to Lyle Wallis, Director of ...
