In folk-music terms, Kirsty MacCoIl was a child of royal birth. The daughter of the great British singer Ewan MacCoIl (composer of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face") and Peggy Seeger (of the New York Seegers), MacCoIl was born to folk music and, perhaps inevitably, turned her back on it. Instead of following in her parents footsteps, she embarked on a pop music career that never resulted in gold records or chart hits, but did garner her a reputation for wit, melodic sense, and stylistic eclecticism.
