Singer Tierney Sutton's debut (Introducing Tierney Sutton [Challenge 73111, 1998]) was a wonderful blast of fresh air; her voice is light, dry, and crystal-clear, yet her emotional range is remarkable. The material she chose for that recording consisted almost entirely of jazz standards, and yet all of the tunes ended up sounding either as if they had been written for her or as if she had written them herself.
