Winner

Matt Kenseth, No. 17 Ford. Average speed: 115.478 mph.

Move of the race

Kenseth, strong all day, passed Sterling Marlin and Bobby Labonte with seven laps to go after those two slowed because of an oil slick.

See a Different Race

While everyone else opted for fresh tires and pitted for a final time, Ricky Craven, driving the No. 32 Ford, remained on the track and took the lead. It was a calculated risk because Craven knew his pit stops had been slow all day. Staying out didn't result in a victory, but Craven, who started the race on the pole, finished fifth.
