Seeking expert comment regarding the AAP's endorsement of homosexual adoption, AP writer Lindsey Tanner called up Steven Drizin, "an attorney with Northwestern University's Children and Family Justice Center." Not surprisingly, Drizin applauded the AAP's decision: "The stamp of approval from a widely respected and mainstream organization ... will go a long way to further the movement throughout courts and legislatures."

Drizin's organization, however, is neither "widely respected" nor "mainstream." Its present director is Bernadine Dohrn, who received that position shortly after her name was removed from the FBI's "Most Wanted" list. Along with her husband, Bill Ayers, Dohrn co-founded the Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist group sponsored by the Soviet Union and Cuba that carried out a string of bombings, robberies, and other crimes in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
