HANOI, March 1 Asia Pulse - The Bach Dang Shipyard in the northern port city of Hai Phong has launched a 6,500-tonnes cargo ship.

The ship, 102m long, 17.04m wide and 8.8m high, is equipped with a 3,600-HP engine as its main motor. It has a cruising speed of 12.4 nautical miles and is the third biggest ship built in Vietnam to date.

Designed by Japan's Kitada and built in six months under the supervision of Japanese experts, the ship will be handed over to the Vietnam Ocean-Shipping Company (VOSCO) in June this year.
