- During a reception of State-Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology Axel Gerlach here yesterday, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai said Vietnam will do its utmost to enhance trade and investment relations with Germany, and he hoped that there will be more German investment projects on infrastructure building in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
- The Organisation of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC) Fund will grant preferential credits worth US$10 million to help Vietnam's central coastal Ninh Thuan province implement a multi-purpose rural development project. This is the second credit loan that OPEC has granted to Vietnam's rural development, poverty reduction and hunger eradication so far.
- Australia and Vietnam are to implement a one-year nature conservation project in the Lower Mekong Region that will seek to improve natural resources within protected areas and review the impact of the natural environment on socio-economic development in the region.
