- Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday directed both the Telephone Organisation of Thailand and the Communications Authority of Thailand to merge before listing on the stock market by the end of the year.
- The economy posted only modest signs of recovery in January, although gains in investment and consumer spending helped solidify prospects for a pickup in growth later in the year, the Bank of Thailand announced yesterday.
- GE Elano Asia, an affiliate of the global conglomerate General Electric, yesterday announced plans to invest more than three billion baht over the next eight years in Thailand to set up Asia's largest aerospace tubing, ducting and components manufacturing and servicing facility.
- The Thai Asset Management Corp will offer a 500,000-baht reward for anyone with information to help prosecute people illegally promoting debt restructuring services.
