CHICAGO -- Five talented and generous contributors to Chicago's arts, business and Mexican-American communities will be honored Thursday, May 9, 2002, as the Chicago Historical Society bestows its annual Making History Awards. This year's honorees are Ramsey Lewis, Walter A. Netsch, Jr., Sara N. Paretsky, Richard Thomas and Arturo Velasquez, Sr..
"The wide-ranging accomplishments of the individuals being honored by this year's Making History Awards enhance Chicago's reputation in every corner of the globe," said Paul H. Dykstra, chair of the awards program.
