BALTIMORE ORIOLES: The team made its first significant trade of the offseason by acquiring CF Chris Singleton from the White Sox for prospect CF/2B Willie Harris. This strengthens the team's defense considerably, allowing Melvin Mora, who had been expected to be the starting center fielder, to move into a utility role. Mora can play as many as six positions. Singleton will start in center and may hit in the No. 2 spot, as he often did for the White Sox. He batted .298 with seven homers and 45 RBIs in 392 at-bats last season but rarely played against lefthanders. In the field, Singleton never has made more than four errors in a season....
