In this issue, our Florida Association recalls significant past accomplishments, while our Kentucky Association anticipates and plans for the future.
Florida State Music Teachers Association (FSMTA) President Martha Stubbs
describes two major projects completed under the leadership of past president Joan Mank, NCTM. FSMTA completely revised its bylaws. Also, the association made the transition from having four pages in the magazine, Florida Music Director, to publishing its own eight-page newsletter, The Florida State Music Teacher. With ten issues per year, the newsletter, along with the FSMTA website at www.fmta.org, keeps membership abreast of all state activities.
In addition to these new ventures, FSMTA held its sixty-seventh annual conference, "A Musical Odyssey: Different Ports of Call," November 1-4, 2001, in St. Petersburg. The conference included workshops in the areas of new literature, accompanying skills, certification and community outreach. ...
