Advanced Rendering Technology, developer of the RenderDrive rendering appliance, has now made its hardware-based raytracing technology available on a PCI (peripheral component interface) card for workstations. The Pure board is based on eight of ART's AR350 raytracing graphics processors.
The AR350 chips enable the photorealistic rendering of imagery at speeds the company claims exceed those of software-based raytracing by more than 10 times. At less than $4000, the card is also a cost-effective alternative to a multi-workstation renderfarm.
