On December 16th, ships carrying U.S. grain and frozen chicken docked in Havana, breaking a 40-year U.S. trade embargo with the Communist regime. The shipments are part of a $30 million purchase of U.S. food by the Cuban government in the wake of devastation caused by Hurricane Michelle in November. Leading the charge into the Havana trade breach was Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the giant agribusiness company, whose longtime CEO, Dwayne Andreas (CFR), has been very friendly to Fidel Castro and an advocate of normalization of relations with Cuba.
