EU Defends Terrorists. (Insider Report).(European Union)(Brief Article)
Even as they continued to work on a continent-spanning police state in the name of fighting terrorism, European Union (EU) leaders took care to express solidarity with Palestinian Authority (PA) ruler Yasser Arafat, the world's senior terrorist. During the Laeken summit, "the EU issued a statement ... expressing support for Yasser Arafat and increasing financial aid to his Palestinian Authority," reported the Washington Post. The resolution denounced efforts "to weaken or discredit" Arafat.
German foreign minister Joschka Fischer insisted that Arafat is "the democratically elected leader of the Palestinians."
