Owen Nolan could feel that something special was about to happen to the Avalanche in 1995-96, but he was traded by Colorado to San Jose early that season. Six years and two Stanley Cups later, the Avalanche continue to be an annual threat to win it all. But Nolan doesn't feel bad about the position he's in with the Sharks.
"That same feeling that a team was methodically being assembled piece by piece in Denver, I have that feeling here," he says. "It's taken a long time. When I came here, there were a lot of pieces missing from the puzzle."
