PALMETTO -- The problems and challenges for new police Chief Garry Lowe keep coming.

A month ago, Manatee County sheriff's investigators found that several Palmetto police officers, including former Chief Kenny Bright, made racial slurs and that others engaged in racially insensitive banter.

No punishments have been handed down, but Lowe said Tuesday night that five people will be disciplined within two weeks.

And sheriff's investigators have turned their attention to a Palmetto Police Department Christmas party account, City Councilman Brian Williams confirmed.
