TAIPEI, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - Vice President Annette Lu called on mainland China Monday to shed the outdated argument with Taiwan over whether the two sides should reunite or whether there is an agreement on the meaning of "one China."

Lu said the WTO membership of Taiwan and the mainland will usher in a new era of ties between the two sides in the fields of investment and services, which she claimed will "negate" the disputes.

Speaking at a news briefing on activities to mark the island's WTO accession, Lu said the existence of the so-called "1992 consensus" on "one China" is doubtful and that there is no point in arguing about it once both sides become equal WTO members.
