Fast cooking for anything bigger than a bag of popcorn usually means using a big appliance that can cost more than $1,000. The report on page 48 covers several alternatives. By contrast, the Toastmaster Ultravection Oven TUV48S sells for only $100, fits on a countertop, and claims to cook food up to 60 percent faster than a regular oven by combining convection, conduction, and radiant heat.
Having tested it on a variety of foods, we don't consider this oven a must-have appliance.
