Gains in blue chips help SET surge 3% to 660.

Section: Stocks - Strong gains by blue chips propelled the SET index to a new six-year high of 660. The market broke through the psychological resistance of 650 just before the lunch break. Buying momentum picked up in the afternoon, with the index closing at the day's high of 659.96, a gain of 20.51 points or 3.2%. Trading volume remained very strong at Bt46.61bn, the second highest ever recorded.

Bank stocks, which surged 5.8% on Friday, gained another 4.4%, led by sector heavyweights such as BBL (+5.2%), KTB (+6.7%) and SCB (+7.3%). Finances also attracted buyers, with brokerage stocks among the favourites due to the sharp rise …
