Was I going to a particular event, in this case the golden anniversary celebration of the largest network? a colleague asked me. I checked when this was. Maybe, the invitation was on its way and just hadn't gotten to me yet. My friend got his already and he thought of going.

I didn't give the matter another thought. Anyway, I wasn't much for socializing anyway. But, wasn't that what people who didn't get invitations always said? When the day rolled along, I got another query, this time from an officemate if I was going. I said I wasn't invited.
