Taiwan and the mainland should put aside their political differences to focus on economic issues first in order to achieve a "win-win" situation for people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, a vice-chairman of the KMT said yesterday.

Vincent Siew Wan-chang, chairman of the Cross-Strait Common Market Foundation and also a senior economic adviser to President Chen Shui-bian, said on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia that he hoped leaders on both sides could work together to build a common market.
