WHILE the news that Etain Doyle was stepping down as chairperson of the Commissionfor Communications Regulation (ComReg) was not much of a shock to the telecommunications sector, the news that she is off to New York to study film reallyknocked the wind out of most.

Not that anyone in the market would doubt Ms Doyle's ability to turn her hand to any newtask - it was more of a case of the most unlikely candidate in the class.
