Despite some of the highest levels of security, many loopholes are still said to exist in UAE hotels.

Flaws were exposed last month when a man breezed past staff at a top Dubai hotel and proceeded to parachute from the roof, even at a time when hotels were on a high level of alert in the run-up to the IMF and World Bank meetings.

The jumper was acquitted of any wrongdoing last week as he had not trespassed and the door to the roof had no warnings signs saying it was out of bounds. But the fact remains that he had walked in unchallenged with a parachute on his back.
