THE millions of British servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice will be honoured when Bristol hosts a Festival of Remembrance this weekend.

On Saturday, the Colston Hall will become a focal point for remembering those who fought for their country but never made it home.

Hundreds of service people, both serving and veteran, are expected to pack the city centre venue for the event, which will be a centrepiece in the city's remembrance programme.

Last Saturday saw the official launch of the Poppy Appeal, which raises millions of pounds every year for veterans and their dependents.
