POUND-FOR-POUND boxing great Marco Antonio Barrera found himself literally in the line of fire and was forced to evacuate from his Big Bear camp in Los Angeles yesterday following what Fightnews described as a "horrific fire raging through Southern California."

Barrera, along with all members of his training camp, was asked by the Sheriff department to leave Oscar De La Hoya's training facility pronto, as safety precaution.

The Mexican ring idol has been holed up in the high-altitude Big Bear area for a couple of weeks now as he prepares for the real fire on November 15 with a showdown against Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

"I'd like to thank the Sheriff's department and the emergency workers who are out there trying to keep us safe in this horrible time," said Barrera, as quoted by Fightnews.
