OUTRAGE.
This one word encapsulates the Cebuanos' reactions to the perfidious plot to bring down one of the few men in the government with an immaculate record, Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr.
The "evil plotters" might have underestimated Davide, one of Cebu's favorite and beloved sons, and the throngs who believe in him. They are facing not only a resolute foe but also a popular backlash that threatens to sweep them away faster than they can spell "impeachment."
No one would feel the full impact of the Cebuanos' wrath more than the two local solons who closed ranks with the "Dirty Eighty," Representatives Nerissa Soon-Ruiz and Joseph "Ace" Durano. Unlike their peers, they don't have the excuse of not knowing the Chief Justice.
To them, Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal had this to say: "Our nation has suffered enough. We appeal to your sense of patriotism and basic decency to uphold the interest of the country first."
