Elgin's Stuart Cruickshank leads the Scottish challenge at the WIBC world under-25 championships which start in Jersey today.
He won both senior and junior national singles titles last year and has the daunting task of opening in Section A against the experienced Australian international and defending champion Mark Casey.
He will have to fend off Ireland's Neil Mulholland and Garry Collins of Guernsey in round robin play.
