For most people the biggest worries in life centre around areas like the health of their family, getting the car fixed or paying the mortgage.

Bigger worries like the imminent extinction of the human race or global devastation tend to put these into perspective, but are too big for most people to consider.

For (re)insurers the unexpected is unwelcome, doubly so for events that are totally unanticipated. They therefore need to make sure that they are as up-to-date as possible when it comes to trying to predict the next major disaster that might hit them.
