Finnish biotechnology company Mobidiag has made a valuable joint development agreement with STMicroelectronics, the European leader in semiconductor solutions of microelectronics applications. Mobidiag develops biochip-based molecular diagnostic tests for infectious diseases, being currently the only Finnish company in the field. The agreement was announced today. The aim is to create a complete micro-fluidics technology based system for DNA-based diagnostics of infectious diseases. - We feel there is enormous potential in using a silicon-based lab-on-a-chip for genomic detection of infectious diseases.
