My first flight with an Energy speaker system is proving to be full of surprises and satisfaction. I have only had the Veritas 2.3i's in my family room and fired up for ten days, even as this is being written, and I'm already planning how I can steal them.
Long ago, in a faraway land, Energy speakers were first introduced as a product line of high efficiency speakers for home use. Their first efforts left me cold and I haven't paid any real attention since.... that is, until ten evenings ago.
My first impressions? Let's start with very high detail resolution and nary a trace of hardness, glare or any of those other crapola artifacts which many other speakers pass off as "enhanced detail." I'm really Impressed. And mind you, this is an unbroken-in pair with only a few miles on the odometer.
If the idea of speakers requiring a break-in period has any validity, I could be facing cross-border petite larceny charges down the road. Next, the sound low volume levels seem to fill the room even better than I would expect. I'm not sure what is happening here yet, but at lower levels, the sound is satisfying, not thin as in many systems that have passed through this room. And lastly, how about imaging and soundstaging as good as any system I've ever had in this room. Not bad when ...
