Ugly Beauty: The original Dynaco Stereo 70 was an ugly duckling, but hi-fi beauty is more than skin deep. During its heyday, David Hafler's dull brown boxes powered more systems and quickened hearts of more music lovers than any other amplifier. I'd bet that there are still more Stereo 70s pumping sounds than any other tube amp model even though the last of the originals came off the Dynaco assembly line--or a kit builder's workbench--decades ago.
