Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his entourage left Hanoi during the morning of 23 October for Ho Chi Minh City, continuing their official friendship visit to Vietnam. The Chilean president was seen off at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace.

President Lagos expressed satisfaction at the results of the talks between the two sides and his hope that efforts would be made to implement the set targets with the highest efficiency. He also said he hoped to welcome President Tran Duc Luong to Chile.
