Regional IGAD summit leaders meeting in Uganda review achievements.

President Yoweri Museveni has called on member states of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development, IGAD, to exploit the uniqueness and vast natural resources in the region for the development of the African continent. The president, who is now the new chairman of IGAD, was today addressing the 10th IGAD ordinary summit of heads of state and government at the Uganda International Conference Centre in Kampala.

The two-day summit has drawn leaders from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda. President Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique, who is also the chairperson of the African Union [AU], is attending the summit.
