Beirut, 14 October: The Russian foreign minister's special envoy to the Middle East, Andrey Vdovin, describes the situation in the region as tense and dangerous.
"The situation in the Middle East not only remains tense but seems to be getting more dangerous than ever in recent years," Vdovin told RIA upon his arrival in Lebanon. He arrived in Beirut from Cairo as part of a Middle East trip together with his successor Aleksandr Kalugin.
Vdovin explained his visit to Lebanon by the fact that that country was one of the main participants in the Middle East settlement process.
