Western media accused of standardising public views.

The western media was accused of producing a "mass uniform public", in statements from a prominent politician and writer at the Arab Media Summit yesterday.

Azmi Bishara, an Arab Member of the Israeli Knesset who is based in Nazareth, said this during a seminar entitled, Media: The Ultimate Weapon of Mass Destruction, and argued that the media was engaged in standardising the views of the masses.

"They direct the same thoughts and questions while giving people the illusion of choice. They create 'uniformised' doubts and 'uniformised' questions," he said.
