(From University Wire)
Byline: Jenny Barrows
"This moment, right now [...] is as good as it's gonna get; I'm gonna propose we quit while we're ahead," Lewis Black started when he opened his performance at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Connecticut on Monday night.
Heading the "Red, White and Black" Tour, Black's act was assisted by opening comedian John Bowman.
"You turn on the TV and you always see the happy, upbeat Lewis Black," Bowman sarcastically told the audience.
Using political humor, but not primarily relying on it, Bowman warmed up the crowd with jabs at America's current president.
"Karl Rove had to explain to him it wasn't a dinner and drinks with another man," said Bowman in reference to George Bush's knowledge of "mandates." Bowman then moved on to his personal take on consumer society.
