Political parties will be permitted to distribute pamphlets carrying their manifestos or preelection pledges to voters during campaign periods, starting with the House of Representatives election expected to be held in November.

The lower house passed a bill to revise the Public Offices Election Law on Friday to realize this innovation. The bill is likely to pass the Diet on Oct. 10 with the approval by the House of Councillors.
