About 200 immigrant workers and supporters stood in the noonday heat of downtown Immokalee Saturday, chanting for respect and justice.
They were on the first stop of a bus ride from Miami to New York, organized to draw attention to the conditions of millions of immigrant workers in the United States.
Standing out in the crowd was a boy of about 10, his thick hair combed neatly to one side, his blue print shirt and jeans neatly pressed.
He held a sign that was almost as big as he was, from his shoulders to his feet. Written in Spanish was the slogan, "Ilegales son trabajadores, no delincuentes."
