The Justice Department is conducting a preliminary probe into a complaint that White House officials may have disclosed the name of an undercover Central Intelligence Agency operative, a justice official said.
"It's a preliminary inquiry being conducted by the FBI and the counterespionage section of the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice," said the official, who wished to remain anonymous.
The official declined to disclose when the probe was launched.
