Japan Consumer Electronics Shipments Up 0.5 Pct in Aug.

Tokyo, Sept. 30 (Jiji Press)--Consumer electronics shipments in Japan in August grew 0.5 pct from a year before to 139.6 billion yen, rising year on year for the third straight month, an industry group said Tuesday.

The growth reflects a recovery in consumer sentiment following the recent rise in the Japanese stock market, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association said.
