SYDNEY, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - The world's second largest health club chain believes Australia has the potential for more than 100 of its Fitness First gyms across the country.
The Australian subsidiary of Britain's Fitness First UK today said it had turned its business around, forecasting net profit of A$15 million (US$10 million) from revenue of A$131 million for the current financial year.
The company has forecast earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of A$25 million.
"It is the most successful chain and the largest ever," Fitness First Australia managing director Tony De Leede said.
"Ninety-nine per cent of our people pay monthly and so we have this wonderful thing called cash flow which ensures that we have enough funds to run the business properly."
Fitness First bought the insolvent Healthlands Australia gyms in November 2000. Healthlands was then losing around A$1 million a month with its 11 gyms.
Fitness First now operates 30 gyms across four states with plans to grow to more than 100 sites over the next few years.
