SEOUL, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea's largest lender, Kookmin Bank, may have posted a net loss in the third quarter, its head revealed today.
"Kookmin had to put up an additional 500 billion won (US$433.5 million) against lending by its credit card unit," President Kim Jung-tae said in a monthly meeting with bank employees.
"Before this provision, however, it managed to break even in the first nine months of the year."
On Tuesday, Kookmin merged with its credit card subsidiary, Kookmin Credit Card Co., which had been eating into its bottom line.
