TAIPEI, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - China Airlines (CAL), Taiwan's largest air carrier, denied a news report Tuesday that a CAL pilot was banned from flying for having consumed alcohol before taking charge of an Anchorage to New York flight.
A foreign wire service reported that the captain of a CAL Airbus 340 passenger jet was barred from taking the controls last Thursday after a breath test showed his blood-alcohol level to be over the acceptable limit.
According to a CAL official, the capital claimed he did not violate CAL regulations, which state that pilots should not drink alcohol eight hours prior to a flight, while according to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport's test data, the captain's blood alcohol level did not exceed the limit.
