Seven potential bidders, who submitted their Expression of Interests (EoIs), have also tendered for the feasibility of the landmark project, an official of Pakistan Railways informed newsmen.
Among seven potential bidders for the project, four are from Lahore. They are Associated Consultant Engineering, M.M. Pakistan, NESPAK and Republic Engineering Corporation.
The remaining three bidders -- Engineering Associates, Engineering Consultant International and Techno Consultant International -- are from the port city of Karachi, the official said.
Pakistan Railways has a plan to expand its track up to Gwadar Port.
The major initiative to launch this mega project is to boost freight business of the railways by linking under developing Gwadar Port to the main lines and then to expand the network to Afghanistan and Central Asian States.
For the purpose, the railways will have to lay down 400-600 kilometres new track to establish rail link with the Gwadar port to the main lines.
