MELBOURNE, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Geelong Wool Combing (GWC) will close its plant, Leigh Schmitt, the chief executive of the ailing textile firm said.
The closure of the plant will result in the loss of almost 100 jobs.
Schmitt announced the decision today after a meeting of the company's board last night.
"The decision has been taken to close the plant," he told AAP.
GWC rose to national prominence when 93 employees were locked out in May after refusing to take a 25 per cent pay cut when the company wanted to change its operations from seven days to five days a week, and remove weekend loading rates.
Mr Schmitt said the plant would permanently close on October 8.
"It's a very tough decision for us. We've been here for 10 years," he said.
