Hospitality Unit to Undergo Re-Organization; Company Names Randy Tofteland President & Chief Operating Officer; New Business Unit Created to Advance Lean Manufacturing Leadership Position; Fiscal Year-End to Move to Sept. 30
SoftBrands, Inc., a Minneapolis-based provider of software and business solutions to the manufacturing and hospitality industries, today announced plans to restructure the company's business operations to become better positioned for future growth and profitability. According to George Ellis, chairman and chief executive officer, "We have an opportunity to build a successful software firm because of our customer base and global market reach in the manufacturing and hospitality sectors. Today's announcement reflects our intent to capitalize on this opportunity while acknowledging the current economic realities of the markets we serve."
Ellis outlined the following four-point restructuring plan:
-- Undergo a rapid re-organization of the current hospitality unit to return the business to sustained profitability;
-- Appointment of Randy Tofteland to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of SoftBrands, Inc. Tofteland was previously president of the company's manufacturing software business;
