COTABATO CITY-Some rice traders in Cotabato City and Maguindanao have mixed National Food Authority rice with poor quality commercial rice, the NFA office for Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said.

Prof. Omar Kamid, NFA-ARMM director, said efforts have been made to curb the widespread selling of substandard rice with NFA tag in various retail outlets in the city and the province.

He did not identify who and where these traders operate but Kamid vowed to eradicate the practice.

Saying NFA rice is of high quality, some deceitful rice distributors and retailers mix them with poor and low quality commercial rice at the expense of consumers.

Kitem Kadatuan, Maguindanao provincial manager, said NFA-ARMM had already adopted stringent measures to ensure the agency would only acquire high-grade rice grains under the Guaranteed ...
