THE DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways yesterday finally issued the suspension orders on DPWH Undersecretary Salvador Pleyto and Director Romeo Panganiban but failed to serve them on the two officials who have made themselves "incommunicado."
The two, who earlier flunked the government's lifestyle check, are facing graft charges for their alleged unexplained wealth.
DPWH spokesperson Assistant Secretary Rafael Yabut said the suspension memo for Pleyto was served yesterday afternoon but Pleyto's secretary refused to accept it.
"We were forced to send the memorandum through registered mail,'' Yabut said in a phone interview.
The DPWH also sent by registered mail the suspension order on Panganiban to his residence in Laguna. Panganiban has not been reporting for work for sometime.
